Synergy Attends The 2017 MMPC

MMSDC logo 2016.JPGThursday, May 4th was a cold and rainy day outside, but inside Cobo Hall, things were looking bright as ever. The Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council, a staple of the Michigan business community and champion of diversity, played host to the 40th installment of the Michigan Minority Procurement Conference and it an event to remember. The Walls of Cobo Hall echoed with the sounds of jubilation and progress and companies from around our great state and beyond came together to accomplish a common goal, Support, and champion the success of minority businesses.

The morning started off with a bang as Michelle Robinson, the MMSDC president addressed the eager crowd and opened the Opportunity Fair with the ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony. What followed that was a day filled with forging new connections, rekindling old ones, and many businesses establishing an appreciation for the hard work of the minority business community. Synergy continued our tradition of having a very strong presence at the event by not only having five employee’s present, one of which was our wonderful CEO Mr. Sridha Guduguntla but also had one of the more impressive MBE display booth at the show. This display complete with boards depicting Synergy’s new diverse innovative solutions, and a full on multimedia display helped to show others that not only are they a prominent player in the IT staffing space, but also a force to be reckoned with when it comes to innovative business solutions.

The highlight of the event would without a doubt end up being the sheer amount of new connections Synergy was able to make as a result of our company’s strong display, and the amazing effort of our employees. With follow-up appointments trending into the double digits it was safe to say this event, as is the case every year, was an astounding success for Synergy Computer Solutions. We look forward to carrying this momentum into the NMPC this fall which will also be hosted by COBO Hall in downtown Detroit. Synergy was happy to be able to be a part of such a wonderful event, and looks forward to representing the MMSDC for many years to come!

Minority Women Mastermind Event

IMG_0304.JPGCollaboration is a wonderful thing. The act of people coming together and working towards a collective goal is a major component of what contributes to Synergy’s success, most recently our product line, (check out our company’s collaboration solution Intrakonnect sometime, it’s really cool) but that’s a story for another blog. On March 30th thanks in part to the MMSDC, Synergy’s Rene Bryant had the opportunity to be part of a massive collaboration of some of the best and brightest minds in the business. The Minority Women Mastermind Unveiling Reception was a chance for influential women in southeastern Michigan to come together and brainstorm how they can make a bigger impact in the business world, and better promote and boost enrollment into the MMSDC.
The evening kicked off with a wonderful address from our leading lady, the MMSDC president Michelle Robinson. After a quick intro and a very special thank you to the sponsors that helped host us, the ideas started flowing! Dr. Joe Johnson a professional business coach and trainer. With his guidance, the participants all came together to think of new and innovative ideas to bolster the MMSDC and increase the amount of MBE who are enrolling. Following this, each group pitched their thoughts to the remainder of the group. The exercise was extremely insightful and shed light on all the thing we as MBE organizations should do to actively grow our organization.
Synergy as an organization embraces this opportunity having and continuing to mentor other organizations through the process of becoming an MBE. Since our acceptance into the MMSDC Synergy Computer Solutions has done all we can to educate, promote, and walk other Minority Owned Business through the enrollment process all in the name of expanding the network and doing our part in growing the organization that has given us so much. Synergy will continue to promote the brand, and do everything in our power to make sure new MBE’s can reap the same rewards we all do time and time again!

Synergy Attends the MMSDC Kick Off

Synergy Computer Solutions has been a proud member of the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC) since 2000 and every year we look forward to the annual Kick-Off meeting. Michelle Robinson, the head of the MMSDC, lead an enthusiastic group of attendees in taking an in-depth look at what to expect in 2017.. At the forefront of the conversation was Project One.

 

Synergy Computer Solutions has a longstanding and successful history with Project One. Through Project One, Synergy was able to establish many relationships it still maintains today, leveraged business that was extremely beneficial to our company, and gained insights that have proved to be invaluable. As a Project One alumnus, Synergy’s own Leslie Knitter, has gone on to tutor other former and current members on how to efficiently and effectively utilize the program.

 

This new installment of the decade old program focuses on connecting certified vendors with new vendors and helping them become more successful members of the MMSDC. This new focus will seek to energize the program, boost corporate engagements for CEOs, and attempt to connect these new enrollees with various chambers of commerce.

 

Synergy is optimistic about the potential of participating in the newest round of Project One. Seeing how beneficial it was for our company the first time around, as alumni, we will continue to be an outspoken proponent of the program. We look forward to the next event and will continue to do everything we can to uphold the mission of the MMSDC.

Getting Into Intranet

Flat design illustration concepts for creative process, big data filter, data tunnel, analysis concept Everyone has their morning routine:  drive intowork, fire up your laptop (which is likely outdated making this a twenty-minute activity), and settle in to enjoy your second K-cup of the morning. What comes next is a mixture of checking various devices, logging into multiple networks, and attending various meetings in multiple locations all in hopes of connecting with those in your business.

Now, call me crazy but I’m one that’s partial to simplification. But the modern business landscape seems to have other ideas. It’s true, the office is more accessible than it has ever been but that’s not to say this accessibility doesn’t have strings, or cords, attached. We now have the ability to work from home, however, you must be set up to connect to the company’s network if you want access to the same files you have at work. We have email on our phones, but anyone who has ever tried the frustrating task of opening and analyzing a spreadsheet on a six-inch screen knows it’s hardly ideal. We have created a situation where over-accessibility has led to a dramatic decrease in the quality of communication. In fact, I think the whole thing can be summed up best by the Drew Barrymore and her character from “He’s Just Not That Into You”

I had this guy leave me a voicemail at work so I called him at home and then he e-mailed me to my Blackberry and so I texted to his cell and then he e-mailed me to my home account and the whole thing just got out of control… now you just have to go around checking all these different portals just to get rejected by seven different technologies. It’s exhausting.”

Now, while our movie star example might have been referencing her love life, I think we can spin this to be applicable to business. This is the conundrum of modern day communication. As business professionals, we now have multiple ways and devices to connect with one another but those efforts always seem to end up scattered and require an inordinate amount of attention. Any manager will tell you wasted attention and scattered communication efforts lead to lower productivity, and as we all know, low productivity means wasted dollars.

With this transitive train of thought in motion, management is left to wonder how to get the collective on the same page and moving in the right direction. If only there was some magical solution that has been developed that can allow individuals to communicate and share all things work-related in one single place no matter what device is being used. Lucky for us someone thought that same thing, and they were technically inclined enough to do something about it. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the INTRANET!

An intranet (by definition) is a local or restricted communications network, especially a private network. While intranets have been around a while, companies have been utilizing the corporate intranet more frequently in an effort to increase collaboration and productivity in the workplace – and not to anyone’s surprise, it’s had resounding results.

 

 

 

 

 

These include but aren’t limited to:

  • 5X more likely to result in an increase in employment
  • 2X more likely to be profitable
  • 2X as likely to outgrow competitors of similar size who lack an intranet
  • Reduced costs
  • Improved interdepartmental relationships
  • Improved relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Increased transparency in the organization

 

How can one simple tool achieve all these things? It’s not rocket science; it’s just a matter of organization. Through providing employees with features like centralized accessible knowledge and quick comprehensive search techniques, individuals can find what they need when they need it. The solution breaks down would-be silos enabling individuals to respond quickly and effectively to problems. And above all, it gives members of your community access to the system anywhere.

So this should be an easy fix, right? Run to Office Max and grab yourself an intranet and everything is going to be a-ok? Wrong. An intranet is not a one-size-fits-all solution. With this in mind, the question becomes: how can you ensure your company implements the right intranet solution to accomplish your business goals?

Some might suggest that building your own network is the way to go. Who knows you better than you, am I right? According to a recent Modalis Research Technology survey, the average costs associated with building an intranet are about $40,000 and it can take up to 15 months to implement. IMG_4139.JPGWith the holidays coming to a close, we are able to reflect on the year that was, and how fortunate we are. If you are reading this, we can assume you have Internet access, you are utilizing some type of mobile device or a computer, and you are looking at professional blogs instead of “Help Wanted” ads. This would make you more fortunate than most people in the world.

At Synergy Computer Solutions we recognize holidays are not only for spending time with those important to us, but we also see it as a time to give to the less fortunate and help promote worthwhile causes. As we have done in the past, Synergy teamed up with the Detroit Rescue Mission (DRM) to do just that by donating blankets and toiletries to help make the holiday season a little brighter for some of Detroit’s less fortunate.

Making an impact in our local community has always been a priority here at Synergy and we couldn’t think of a better partner to do that with than the Detroit Rescue Mission. The DRM is a Non-Profit Organization with multiple locations around Detroit and has been helping those who have fallen on hard times since 1909. They provide housing for veterans recovering from substance abuse and to women and children in need. In addition to soup kitchens and treatment programs, the DRM provides multiple other services to those less fortunate. By providing comprehensive substance abuse, detox, and job training programs, the Detroit Rescue Mission gives all participants the tools they need to succeed.

Synergy commends the work of this wonderful organization and would like to encourage all of you to start off the New Year right by donating to the Detroit Rescue Mission or any other worthwhile cause. Through the efforts of this community, we can come together and ensure the city of Detroit, and its’ surrounding neighborhoods will have a better and brighter future.
